About

Hi! My name is Melissa and I’m the owner and founder of the Accounks ACCA student blog. I graduated with degrees in Economics and Management (undergrad) and Business Administration (postgrad) as well as a Diploma in Accounting and Business. I’ve been working in the banking sector for the last few years and I’m looking to develop my career further.

My main focus right now is to pass all of my ACCA exams within a thirty month (2.5 years) period. Seeing that I’ve been working in the field for such a long time, I feel as though this is the next logical step needed to push my career forward. Also, there is always a demand for finance and accounting professionals and I think that I need to be ready when the right opportunity comes my way.

I came up with the idea for this blog so that I can track my progression through the ACCA papers and keep myself accountable. I will be pursuing these exams via self-study so I need all of the motivation that I can get.  I searched, but there weren’t many current blogs that were completely dedicated to preparing for the ACCA exams so I decided that this blog might be able to help someone else along their journey.

My plan is to purchase ACCA approved exam texts and test kits. My research has shown that the test kits are a necessity if you want to pass all of the ACCA exams. I will also sign up to ACCA forums and use free resources to boost my knowledge and get some exam tips. I will use this blog to organise my notes so that I can easily access them from anywhere to help me understand the concepts.

Because I completed the first three papers of the ACCA qualification as part of their diploma, I will not have to do them again. Also, I’ve been exempted from F9, which is Financial Management. This means that I will have to complete at least ten exams (F4-F8 and the P papers). The number of P exams is actually debatable because the ACCA exams are changing in 2018 and this will affect the professional exam papers.

If you’re new to the ACCA, we can help each other through the process. So if you have any questions, comments or suggestions about anything, feel free to contact me anytime.

Good luck!

-Melissa
